The National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) created the Code of Ethics, which serves as a guiding compass for over 110,000 DSPs in New York State. They rely on it to navigate tough decisions and strive to work in the best way possible.

The Code of Ethics covers nine important areas that outline how to act and maintain professionalism:

  • Person-Centered Supports
  • Promoting Physical and Emotional Well-Being
  • Integrity and Responsibility
  • Confidentiality
  • Justice, Fairness and Equity
  • Respect
  • Relationships
  • Self-Determination
  • Advocacy

The Code of Ethics is more than just a rulebook; it acts as a practical guide for DSPs to maintain consistency and uphold high standards. By following these principles, we aim to create a brighter future for both professionals and the individuals they assist.

To further support DSPs in their journey of growth and improvement, the RCWT provides a comprehensive list of online resources. These resources are designed to facilitate their ongoing development as a workforce.
